Session Duration
Developing rapport, collecting needed information and working together is necessary for effective treatment. As such, I do not let the clock dictate session length, but rather what we're addressing. Therefore, sessions often run 60 - 75 minutes with the initial intake session running up to 90 minutes.

Insurance
I do not process insurance, but will provide the needed information for a client to make a claim with his/her provider. Insurance claims for mental health purposes and treatment require that a diagnosis be provided by the treating therapist after a thorough diagnostic interview. The diagnosis I provide may or may not quality a client for reimbursement as there are diagnoses that insurance companies do not accept. Also, during the course of treatment, a diagnosis might change which may or may not be considered reimbursable by an insurance provider. Please be aware that once a claim is filed it remains in the person's file for the long term. Even though the diagnosis is confidential it could affect coverage by being regarded as a preexisting condition which could affect current or new terms and premiums.
If you request that I provide information for you to file with your carrier, please consider the following questions:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
